"The experience from volunteering at Ming-Ai has been invaluable and very rewarding to me because I have had the oportunity to do something I love (designing) and enjoy it inmensely."

Architecture & Planning student (University of the West of England)     20 years old

Hobbies: Travelling, photography, architecture, interior design, shopping

Participation in the project: Exhibition, leaflet, powerpoint presentations, proof-reading and research.

When I began working for Ming-Ai I started working on the 'East West Festival Culture' project. For this project I did some exhibition design and research for the Chinese Ghost Month Exhibition. I found this project very fascinating and educative at the same time because I learnt many things about the chinese culture, their values and history. It gave me a different perspective in life.

In addition I did various leaflet designs and got in touch with website editing. Working on this project has not only been very self-fulfilling, but also it has helped me gain confidence in the work I do.

I am very thankful for this opportunity as I have been able to further develop my key skills, and have made some good friends along the way. I believe that the rewards we reap from volunteering are far greater than any promotion we could get from paid work because you know it is for a good cause.
