September 2009 - School Visits PDF Print E-mail

In September 2009, we were so excited to have chances to visit four schools in the UK, and introduced our project to over 700 students.  Our project volunteer Maritn Kuroczik introduced the "East-West Festive Cultures" to the students and aroused their interests in this topic.  Another project volunteer Kelvin Ma, aged 15 years, shared his volunteering experience with all other students.

We were so glad to have the students and teachers who came from Tzu-Chi College of Technology in Taiwan helping us visit schools and promote the project.

Special thanks to Master Te-Yin Shih, Tzu Chi College of Technology.  We interviewed Master Shih in September 2009, and she gave us a lot of information about the Chinese Ghost Month; her kindness and support helped us a lot.  Thanks to Ms Yu-Mei Tsai, Director of General Education Centre, Tzu-Chi College of Technology; she explained the origin of the Chinese Ghost Month (compared with Halloween) to the school.  Thanks to the students who demonstrated Chinese cultural performance that aroused the interests of students to be aware of other cultures.  During the tea ceremony, students were so impressed by this traditional Chinese way to express appreciation.
