“This project made me feel I’ve done something to preserve the traditional Chinese culture among the new generation, no matter they are Chinese or not.  This project is truly meaningful and deserve much appreciation.”

Simon was born and educated in Hong Kong.  He came to London in 2005 after spending nearly 20 years in corporate life, mainly in the IT and telecom industry.  He is now running his own business, providing wireless connectivity solution to hotels or similar establishments.

Hobbies: He likes reading books, watching movies and travelling during his leisure time.

Participation in the project: Interviews

In fact, I had not much experience in volunteering work before coming to the UK.  In this project, I interviewed a couple of people who have been in the UK long enough to have the real understanding of the difference between the Chinese and Western festivals. Although I thought I’ve already known the festivals quite well, I did learn a lot from them as they viewed the festivals from very different angles.

I understand that Ming Ai will produce an education pack for schools so that the students can learn more about the traditional Chinese festivals and their differences from the similar ones celebrated in the Western customs.  It made me feel I’ve done something to preserve the traditional Chinese culture among the new generation, no matter they are Chinese or not.  This project is truly meaningful and deserve much appreciation.
